The Smart keeps its content on the microSD card, so a clean reset means re-writing the card with TrimUI's TG2040 SD base package. There is no in-menu factory reset on stock OS; you rebuild the card instead. For a device that won't start, TrimUI also documents a rescue (recovery) card: write the rescue image with a disk-imaging tool like balenaEtcher, boot with it until the LED stops flashing, then swap back to your content card.

FAQ

Will a reset delete my save files?
Re-writing the card replaces its contents. Copy your saves and ROMs to a PC first so you can restore them afterward.
What if the Smart is fully unresponsive?
Use the rescue card: write the recovery image with balenaEtcher, boot from it until the LED stops flashing, then reinsert your normal microSD.
